For landholders

ATTENTION LANDHOLDERS - EXPRESSION OF INTEREST PROCESS TO SUPPLY PROJECTS TO THE MARKET NOW OPEN

The Solent Catchment Market is an opportunity for farmers to earn money by creating nature-based projects on their land, such as new woodlands, wetlands and grasslands.  These projects will deliver important environmental services - such as mitigating nutrients (which are polluting local waterways and designated sites), and improving biodiversity.

Participation in the market

We are looking for farmers and landholders to develop and maintain long-term woodland and wetland projects, and short-term grassland projects in eligible areas within the Test and Itchen Catchment.

We will work with interested landowners to help them develop projects that reduce nitrogen and/or phosphorus pollution such as new woodlands, wetlands and temporary grasslands.  Our team will also support landowners to identify how these nature-based projects can be integrated with agricultural production and other land uses.

How can I get involved?

If you are a landholder with an idea for a nature-based project in an eligible area then please submit an Expression of Interest.  This is a simple, non-binding process.

To participate in the market:

  • Projects need to be an eligible project type
  • Projects need to be located in an eligible project area, or demonstrate that the project meets the nutrient mitigation requirements of the market
  • Projects must meet the additionality tests
  • There must not be any existing legal obligation that would prevent the Nature-based Project from proceeding
