Solent Nutrient Market Pilot reaches key milestone

Defra tendered the Solent Nutrient Market Consortium, led by EnTrade, to design a trading mechanism, build an online platform and pilot a trading process to reduce nutrient pollution in the Solent.

The Consortium has now developed the infrastructure needed to support landholders to deliver nature-based projects that reduce pollution and increase habitat and enable new developments to achieve nutrient neutrality for the Solent Protected Sites affected by nutrient pollution. With the achievement of this milestone, the Solent Nutrient Market Consortium’s tender arrangement with Defra has therefore ended.

EnTrade remains committed to delivering a high-integrity market for environmental services in the Solent. We are aiming to launch the first market round before the Summer. 

The name of the Market has now changed to the Solent Catchment Market to reflect EnTrade’s intention to continue to expand the environmental services generated by the nature-based projects supplied to the market
